What is telmisartan:
TELMIMED 40 (Telmisartan) is a non-peptide antihypertensive that belongs to the ARB class of drugs and is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension.
Telmisartan is used to treat essential hypertension (high blood pressure). "Essential" means that the high blood pressure cannot be traced back to other causes.
Telmisartan is also used to reduce cardiovascular events in adults who are at risk because blood flow to the heart or legs is reduced or blocked, or who have had a stroke or are at high risk for diabetes.
How to use telmisartan:
- The usual dose of telmisartan is one tablet (40 mg) a day.
- Try to take the pill at the same time every day.
- You can take Telmisartan-ratiopharm with or without food.
If you feel that the effect of Telmisartan-ratiopharm is too strong or too weak, adjust the dose according to your blood pressure.
For high blood pressure, the usual dose of telmisartan for most users is one 40 mg tablet once a day to control blood pressure for 24 hours.
Sometimes a lower dose of 20 mg or a higher dose of 80 mg may be used.
Telmisartan is also used in combination with diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide, which has been shown to have an additional blood pressure-lowering effect together with telmisartan.
To reduce cardiovascular events, the usual daily dose of telmisartan is one 80 mg tablet. Blood pressure should be monitored frequently at the start of preventive treatment with Telmisartan 80 mg.
If your liver is not working properly or if you are taking any PED that affects the liver, the normal dose (40 mg once daily) should not be exceeded.
